Location, Services and Transport

Rosie Hospital, on Addenbrooke's Site.

Parking

Some disabled parking on site and next to the Addenbrooke's Treatment Centre (ATC). From November 2010 the main entrance to the Rosie Hospital in Robinson Way will be closed during extensive building work and is not expected to re-open until Spring 2012. Please use the entrance to the ATC in Keith Day Road and follow directions to the Rosie Patient and Visitor car parking is available in Keith Day Road opposite the ATC, or at the main Addenbrooke's hospital patient and visitor car park. General Information

Part of the School of Clinical Medicine. The department undertakes research and undergraduate medical school teaching. Access to the Department on Level 2 in the Rosie Hospital, on the Addenbrooke's site, is good.

Smoking

No smoking anywhere in the building or on the Addenbrooke's Site.

Medical facilities

Several first aiders in the building. Addenbrooke's Hospital and Accident and Emergency nearby.

Emergency procedures

Hospital is divided into fire-proof compartments and in the event of a continuous alarm, you should move horizontally through the building to an area where the continuous alarm is not sounding.

Physical Access

Entrances

Level main entrance to the Rosie Hospital on Robinson Way. From November 2010 to Spring 2012, during extensive building work, access will be via level main entrance to the Rosie through automatic opening doors at main entrance to Addenbrooke's Treatment Centre (ATC) in Keith Day Road. Alternative entrance from corridor leading directly from Addenbrooke's.

Number of floors

Located on level two, which is first floor of Rosie and ground floor of Addenbrooke's.

Lifts and stairs

Large lifts to all floors.

Seminar/teaching rooms

Three laboratories, accessible but all with standard height benches. Please discuss in advance if you have any disability that may require an adaptation.

Computer facilities

Members have their own computers. See also separate entry for Medical Library.

Toilets

Nearest disabled toilet is on level one of the Rosie Hospital. Many disabled toilets in Addenbrooke's.

Common rooms

Large food court in Addenbrooke's nearby. No common room.

Visual Impairments

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs welcome in offices, but please discuss in advance if you want to take your dog into laboratories.

Computer facilities

Currently no special hardware or software for visually impaired users.

Large print, Braille and audio

Large print information on prior request.

Library and magnification equipment

Signs and wayfinding

Sign to department from main entrance of the Rosie or, from November 2010, from Addenbrooke's Treatment Centre (ATC). No signs from main Addenbrooke's itself. Ask at Rosie or ATC reception, or main Addenbrooke's reception, for assistance if needed.
