General Information

Provides careers education, information and guidance to students and alumni of the University of Cambridge. See website for further details, as many resources are online. Appointments with Careers Advisors can be made by phoning the Information Desk on 338 169. Please advise seven working days in advance if you have any disabilities or special requirements, for example information in different formats.

Opening hours

9.15am–5.15pm during term. Closed for lunch 1–2.15pm during vacations.

One disabled bay to left of building. Call in advance to arrange parking.

Physical Access


Four steps to main entrance, with no handrail, through heavy manual double doors. which are always open when the Careers Service is open. Bell for assistance. There is a temporary ramp to enable wheelchair access. Please notify the Careers Service prior to arrival so that we cna put it in place. Alternatively, a wheelchair accessible room is available for Careers Service discussions in Mill Lane Lecture rooms next door, if required.

Number of floors

Three floors in total, including lower library.

Lifts and stairs

No lift. Stairs have old-fashioned continuous handrails.


Disabled toilet on ground floor of nearby Mill Lane Lecture Rooms.

General access

  • Ground floor is all level, carpeted and accessible. There are some chairs in the foyer, without armrests, and sufficient space in the library to move about and sit at tables.
  • Access to lower library and upper offices is by stairs only, but interviews with Careers Advisers can always be held at ground level if necessary, and information can be brought up on request.

Visual Impairments

  • Guide dogs welcome.
  • Information can be provided in different formats, including large print, on colour paper, and in Braille. Please contact the Information Team on 338169 at least seven working days in advance of your visit if possible.

Hearing Impairments

  • Portable induction loop at reception
  • The building is carpeted and quiet.
