General Information

Large Fitness Suite and separate Strength and Conditioning room, with various cardiovascular and weights machines, including cable machines, Ski Ergs, hand crank bikes and a treadmill for the visually impaired. Circuit training and club sports activities in rooms upstairs. There are various membership schemes for the Sports Centre — please ask for individual prices.

Opening hours

6.30am–10pm Monday to Friday and 8am–8pm Saturday and Sunday. Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day with reduced hours on some public holidays. Check the Sport website for details.

Location

Philippa Fawcett Drive on the West Cambridge Site. Coton Footpath cycle way leads to the Sports Centre.

Parking

12 accessible parking spaces on site.

Physical Access

Entrances

Dipped kerbs outside. Flat access through two sets of double doors – one automatic and one push/pull set. Low counter at reception. Swipecard access to Fitness, Strength and Conditioning Suite, one single access gate and one double access gate wide enough for wheelchairs.

Number of floors

Two floors in total. Fitness, Strength and Conditioning Suite and Squash Courts are on the ground floor, Multi Purpose room, Fives Courts and Team Training room are upstairs.

Lifts and stairs

Lift available to second floor.

Toilets

Three disabled toilets/shower/changing rooms on ground floor. Level access to regular changing rooms and toilets through two sets of doors. Additional disabled toilet on the second floor.

General access

  • The fully accessible facility has been built to be wide enough for sports wheelchairs. This includes corridors and the Sports Hall balcony.
  • The facility has a range of equipment which can be used for strength and flexibility training activities.
  • Full inductions are given to all new members, so please ask if there are any issues you would like to discuss.
  • GP Referral scheme available.

Visual Impairments

Excellent lighting throughout.

Hearing Impairments

  • Can be loud in the reception area during busy periods.
  • Music is played in the gym

Other Useful Information

  • The CADMuS (Cambridge Adult Disability Multi Sport) Club meets every Saturday morning at the Sports Centre from 10am – 12pm. See the Club website for more details.
  • A new three lane Indoor Cricket School is located in the town centre. Eastern Vipers Cricket Club for visually impaired people has used the facility. See website for details.
