What support you can get

This University of Cambridge fund covers several types of support for international students who do not qualify for UK Disabled Students Allowances. Examples include:

  • assistive technology, including equipment and software
  • human support such as study skills tutoring
  • extra travel costs relating to your disability

How much

Varies according to support needed.

Who is eligible

You must be:

  • a current registered student or offer holder, undergraduate or postgraduate
  • an international student, which includes students from EU countries
  • able to provide evidence of disability as described in the Equality Act 2010, such as a medical letter or specialist report.

If your documents are not in English, you will need English translations.

When to apply

There is no deadline but you should discuss your support requirements with your adviser as early as you can. This is so that your support is in place before you start your course, or as soon as possible.

How to apply

Contact the Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) at disability@admin.cam.ac.uk. If you know who your ADRC adviser is, you can contact them directly.

You may need to have an independent needs assessment as part of the application process. Your adviser can tell you more and help you arrange it if you need one.
