About the role
As a Study Assistant, you'll support a disabled Sociology PhD student. Tasks will involve:
- taking of dictation
- following dictation editing instructions
- using academic online search engines such as Google Scholar, JSTOR, Scopus, and WorldCat
- communicating with other Study Assistants
We are looking for applicants who are available for 7-10 hours per week. The hours of work vary, but will mostly be between 3pm-9pm, Sunday to Friday.
You will be registered with the University of Cambridge Temporary Employment Service.
This role is remote.
About you
We are looking for applicants who:
- have fast, accurate typing skills
- have experience with audio transcription
- have knowledge of academic citational formats
- are proficient in using academic online search engines, such as Google Scholar, JSTOR, Scopus, and WorldCat
- are comfortable working with Google Docs
- have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- are able to maintain clear role boundaries
You’ll need reliable high-speed internet for this role.
You must be based in the UK and you'll need to come to the Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) in Cambridge to complete a right to work check.
You must be available until at least September 2024.

This role is not open to current undergraduate students.
