About the role


As a Specialist Study Skills Tutor, you'll support a number of students by providing weekly one-to-one study skills sessions. You’ll support them to overcome barriers to their learning with a toolkit of strategies in areas such as:
 

  • planning and structuring assignments
  • reading and notetaking
  • academic writing
  • revision
  • time management and organisation


The hours of work vary, depending on student requirements. Hours of work could include evenings and weekends if you choose.


You will be registered with the University of Cambridge Temporary Employment Service.


We are seeking Specialist Study Skills Tutors to deliver study skills sessions either online or in person in Cambridge.


About you


We are looking for applicants who: 
 

  • have qualified teacher status
  • hold professional membership with a recognised body (PAToSS, BDA, ADSHE, Dyslexia Guild)
  • have a BDA accredited qualification, or postgraduate qualification in disability or specific learning difficulties
  • hold a PAToSS Teaching Practising Certificate
  • have experience delivering one-to-one support 
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • are able to maintain clear role boundaries


You'll need to come to the Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) in Cambridge to complete a right to work check.


You must be available until at least September 2025.


We particularly welcome applications from traditionally under-represented groups of the community.


This role is not open to current undergraduate or Masters/MPhil students, or to any students who are themselves currently receiving ADRC study skills support.
